Sometimes you encounter someone that makes you think, “damn, I really want to be like them one day.” These are a few of those people - artists, designers and dreamers with something to say about what it means to be human. Through their philosophies and perspectives, I’ve come to reimagine my own perspective.

Cas is an inspiration to all of us who want to play, get messy, and experiment with what’s possible. She imagines products and experiences that value process over outcome, and cooperation over independence, models I try to embody in my own creations wherever possible. Her work in design, early education, and play advocacy have been inspirational as I transitioned from education into design, serving as a template for what a different kind of success might look like.

Virgilio is a master of blending old and new. As the owner and head chef of Central, Lima he champions the use of indigenous ingredients with modernist cooking techniques, bringing the wisdom and insight of innumerable generations into the 21st century. His work reminds me to pay respect to those who have come before, to remain grounded in the fertile soil of the past. Outside his culinary work, Virgilio serves as the chair of Mater Iniciativa, a research group dedicated to the preservation and documentation of indigenous Peruvian cultures. His focus on his local community and dedication to improving the lives of those around him continue to inspire me to create products and experiences that make the world a better place.

Robert Eggers is a director and set designer best known for his horror films, but there is much more to love about his work than its shocks and scares. Eggers’ work is a masterclass in experience design, with every aesthetic moment and emotional punch landing precisely where he wants them to. Blending a mastery of visual storytelling with a keen awareness of human psychology, Eggers plays with the familiar and the foreign like a sculptor with clay. His works in stage and film are a constant reminder for me to grab my audience from the very first moment, and never to let go.
